ABOUT ME

The artist

I discovered tsumami zaiku in 2016, an ancestral craft used in the making of kanzashi for maiko (apprentice geisha).

Yoake Bijoux was ceated in 2020, a revisited approach of this craft, a clever blend of tradition and modernity.

Why Yoake? Translated from Japanese, it means aurora, which is appropriate since it is my first name! Japan is also nicknamed "the land of the rising sun", I wanted to pay tribute to this fascinating and majestic country.

Unique in France, I am currently the only one to make animals in tsumami zaiku.

All pieces are made from habotai or chirimen silk, or from kimono scraps.
